It's been a long time coming. The last time this franchise bought a championship back to the city, one of the Greats, Lisa Leslie was still in uniform as the Sparks repeated in 2001 and 2002.

One of the longest tenured Sparks, Candace Parker has endured a lot this season whether she admits it or not, are looked at as motivation to fuel her. Still in the prime of her career looking great as ever, Parker was left off the Olympic team, her former college coach passed earlier this year due to Alzheimer's, and she wasn't named to either all-WNBA first or second team.

This franchise has seen a lot of heartbreaking playoff losses over the years and this year their test was even bigger. With the newly formatted WNBA playoffs, Sparks met up with their western conference foe the Minnesota Lynx who have been dominating the league in recent years. The Lynx featured Four Olympians in their starting lineup, and an experienced supporting cast who were along for previous finals runs.

League MVP and Finals MVP embrace

This game five was much like the series, intense, special and a back and forth affair. The Sparks fought off the Lynx with a last second bucket by this years league MVP Nneka Ogwumike to go on and win 77-76.

Parker, named finals MVP did much of the heavy lifting, totaling 28 points to go with 12 rebounds. At last, Parker's resume is complete. The LA Sparks are back on top.
