It was a battle of the undefeated at Madison Square Garden in the Maggie Dixon Classic this evening. #1 UCONN took on #6 Maryland. It was truly a game of runs. Both teams trading baskets through much of the first half and exchanging leads. UCONN used some tough defense in the closing seconds of the first half to take the momentum and a four point halftime lead. Maryland battled back in the second half with an 8-0 run of their own knotting the score at 40 apiece. The teams continued battling back and forth; when it seemed as if UCONN might pull away, Maryland answered the runs. Maryland closed to within four in the final minutes but a Saniya Chong three pointer seemed to be the dagger. UCONN went on to win 83-73 improving to 10-0 while Maryland suffers their first loss of the season moving to 11-1.

Stewart passed Diana Taurasi on the school's all-time scoring list at sixth all time
